The Art of Lucid Dreaming - a New eBook Release
With the release of 2010's sci-fi blockbuster movie, Inception, the world has finally "woken up" to the concept of self awareness in dreams. This scientifically-proven phenomenon is known as lucid dreaming.
Lucid dreams are exceptional for two main reasons: first, they are extremely vivid and lifelike, placing the dreamer in a rich virtual reality existence where anything is possible. Secondly, they allow the dreamer to manipulate elements of the dream at will. This gives us the power to take wild flights of fancy, forge intimate connections with other dream figures, and even talk directly to the subconscious self which lives and breathes within the lucid dreamscape.
How do you become a lucid dreamer? That's what The Art of Lucid Dreaming, a new e-book release by Rebecca Turner, is all about.
"This is my definitive guide to lucid dreaming for beginners," says Rebecca, a long-time lucid dreamer who taught herself this skill when she was just 14 years old.
"I read a whole lot of e-books on the subject before sitting down to write mine, and I was surprised to find so many authors rehashing the same old cliches about lucid dream sex and the like. Novelty applications like these can actually be quite difficult for beginners to accomplish. So I decided to show inexperienced lucid dreamers simple things they could easily do which would blow them away.
"In this 85-page e-book, I explain all the techniques I used to become lucid over the years and explain the science and the theory behind sleep and dreams. I take the complete beginner down the rabbit hole, to explore the deeper meaning of lucidity and to inspire many lucid dreaming adventures with it."
The Art of Lucid Dreaming costs just $9.95 and is available for instance download at: http://www.world-of-lucid-dreaming.com/the-art-of-lucid-dreaming.html

Could Every Dream Be A Lucid Dream?
Author: Colleen Rikke
If you are unfamiliar with the term, a lucid dream is one in which you are aware that you are dreaming. Lucid, of course denotes consciousness. The extent to which you are lucid within your dream depends on how stable the dream is, how much of the dream you can recall upon waking and how much control you have over the course of the dream.
Control over your dream is the most important element of Lucid Dreaming. It is an incredible experience to be in the midst of a dream and to know that you are in fact dreaming. You are in control of everything in your dream and can have any experience you choose to have.
Just consider that for a moment. Lucid Dreaming looks, feels and engages all of your other senses as if it were really happening but you know that you are only dreaming and will be totally safe no matter what you do. This is the kind of virtual reality experience which computer experts can only dream of.
More and more people are learning how too use the skill of Lucid Dreaming. Most of us have a Lucid Dream from time to time but just think how wonderful it would be to be able to have a Lucid Dream anytime you want!
Lucid Dreaming gives you the opportunity to have any experience that you can think of. You can meet anyone you ever wanted to, visit other planets, have unbridled erotic experiences, speak with the loved ones you have lost; anything you can imagine can happen.
But experiencing regular and controlled Lucid Dreams can actually be fairly complicated to achieve. Certainly until recently people would spend months going through an instruction training and self-conditioning procedure prior to obtain familiarity to their first lucid dream. Often people would manage to have but brief instants of lucidity, whereas others never succeed in it at all.
So are there any simple ways of experiencing a Lucid Dream?
Some people report that certain foods can encourage Lucid Dreaming if consumed shortly before sleeping " Mustard, Orange Juice and dairy products among them.
Other foods of note are pickles, ice cream, popcorn and fish. Although they are not as effective as the three foods and drinks described above. Some people say that they improve your overall dream recall and "prepare" your brain for future lucidity. The main problem is of course that they are high in fatty acids, salts and sugars which definitely doesn't assist you in getting a good nights rest!
Can Technology Assist You?
As technology improves, so does the chance to get assistance with your Lucidity. There are now modern devices that you can use to stimulate and induce lucid dreams. There are innovative devices like masks and eyeshades that notice faster eye movement and blink a red diode when you begin to doze. This red beam is integrated into the dream, and reminds the person who is asleep that they are dreaming. The person can then start to control the dream once they realize that it actually is a dream!
One of the most exciting developments in Lucid Dreaming comes to us from the world of audio technology. Audio researchers have discovered a process called binaural beats, in which different frequencies are played into each ear.
These binaural frequencies synchronize the hemispheres of the brain; by listening to these frequencies, the brain is helped to achieve REM sleep, the sleep state necessary for Lucid Dreaming.
For anyone wondering what it is like to experience a Lucid Dream, then this is definitely the easiest and most reliable way of getting started!

Staying Awake During Dream Is Silent Lucidity
Q: How might you be awake and asleep at the same time?
A: By waking up in your dreams, which is how researchers describe "lucid dreaming," where the dreamer becomes aware it's only a dream even as the dream unfolds, says "New Scientist" magazine.
It appears that lucid dreamers' brains are in a penumbral state between waking and sleeping, affording opportunities for the study of consciousness. Perhaps confronting our demons in lucid dreams could help us overcome phobias; further, practicing a motor task in a dream, such as dancing or playing an instrument, may hone skills for the waking world.
The lucid dream amounts to a sort of secondary consciousness — not only aware of events but aware that we are aware — a quality thought to be unique to humans, says journalist Jessica Hamzelou.
Yet, how can a researcher be sure someone is having a lucid dream? Ursula Voss at the University of Frankfurt in Germany trained a group of students to signal while asleep and dreaming, by moving their eyes in a pre-agreed pattern, measurable with an electro-oculograph.
"It takes a great effort to make these eye movements," explains Voss, "because normally, in such a dream, the person doesn't want to communicate with the outside world."
After weeks of reality checking — "Am I awake or asleep?" — Hamzelou herself one Easter weekend finally had her first lucid dream. "It lasted all of a few seconds, and I was merely able to consciously twirl on the spot, but I woke up excited and happy."

Looking At The Lucid Dream
'Lucid dream' a term whose derivation can be owed to the Dutch writer, Frederik van Eeden, means a dream where the individual is very well aware of the fact that it is just a dream. After the person starts dreaming, all of a sudden, in the middle, he or she begins to understand that it is all a dream, and not reality. As we can see, this is not what happens in most dreams.
Lucid dreams are generally classified into two broad forms: a 'dream-initiated lucid dream' and a 'wake-initiated lucid dream'. The first one is the more natural or common type, in which the person is sleeping, and then gets a lucid dream, and slowly realizes that he, is experiencing one. The second one is not that common. In this, the person is initially awake, but then unexpectedly, gets into a bizarre dream-like state.
The concept of lucid dreaming thus simply implies becoming aware of the fact that one is dreaming. The quality of clarity or lucidity of the dream can be different. In a high-level lucid dream, the dreamer is fully aware that everything that he is experiencing is taking place in his sub-conscious. He has no fear of danger, and he knows that he will soon wake up. But in a low-level lucid dream, this might not happen. The dreamer here might not understand that the people he is interacting with, are in his dream, or that he is in no danger.
Lucid dreaming and dream control are not related to each other. The two are not connected as it is generally thought to be. The dreamer might be aware that he or she is dreaming, but still have no amount of control over the content of the dream. The reverse might also take place. The dreamer could have a lot of control over his dream, without being aware of the fact it is actually a dream.
But it can be said, that a lucid dream increases the chances of dream control. This implies that when a person is experiencing a lucid dream, his chances of controlling the content of the dream increases. It usually happens that in such dreams, the dreamer tries to do things that he or she cannot do otherwise in reality, like the act of flying.
It is usually assumed that a lucid dream is not something that has been accepted by science. But this is not the truth. Experts and scientists have undertaken a lot of research in this field. And in this respect we can mention the eminent scientist Allan Hobson, who has shown us a 'neurophysiologic' way of studying and analyzing dreams. And with this, the amount of mistrust, disbelief and speculation that lucid dreams were subject to, has decreased.
Lucid dreams are not a new concept. It was always there in ancient mythology, and philosophy, especially in the eastern and South-east Asian civilizations. We have found evidence of lucid dreams going back to the 8th century. These sorts of dreams were often used by the Tibetan and Buddhist monks. There is a concept in yoga similar to this, which is called dream yoga. But it is not that only the East used this idea. Even people living in western have often utilized the concept of a lucid dream.
The possibility of getting a 'high', that is, experiencing something exhilarating and out-of-the-world, is what pulls most people towards lucid dreaming. Research has shown that, in a lucid dream, people like to do extra-ordinary things, e.g., flying. Lucid dreaming also has therapeutic properties. It can cure people who tend to have horrible nightmares.
It is true that some people are born with an inherent talent for lucid dreaming. But this does not mean that others cannot make use of this wonderful concept. Through proper training and guidance, anybody can experience a lucid dream; and the ones who are lucky enough to be born with the skill, can learn how to make the best use of it.

How Easy Is It To Learn Lucid Dreaming?
Dream consciousness is referred to as lucid dreaming where one is dreaming while being aware that you are dreaming. If you want to learn lucid dreaming there are many techniques and methods that can be used for inducing lucid dreams. Read the subsequent paragraphs to know more about lucid dreams and how to induce them.
Prepare yourself mentally: In order to maximize success you need to prepare yourself mentally. Take a look at your belief systems to do this. You will directly interact with your belief systems and thoughts as you develop your aptitude to lucid dream. You will experience first hand how significant it is to manage your thoughts. For beginners it's essential to keep a positive attitude always. Following this positive attitude is to make dreaming a top priority. The moment you start believing that your dreams are vital it will noticeably augment your results.
Once you have gained your confidence to lucid dream, next you must recall your dreams. You must commit to yourself to increase your dream recall as it's of importance to you and something that you wish to build up. You can look at incorporating some steps to your morning routine: When you wake up do not move and lie still.
You need to wake up slowly and allow yourself sometime to remember your dreams naturally. Keep focus on your mind on whatsoever you were just dreaming. Now you can allow your mind to float and your thoughts should wander through whatever mental images you may have. After remembering one part of the dream, unwind and permit the rest of the pieces to fall into their places. Incase you are unable to remember anything then you must work backwards and try to remember your dream.
To help in the process of lucid dreaming you can follow the alarm clock method to recall your dreams and this is the easiest method to follow. When you get up the memories are still afresh in your mind and that is the idea behind following this method. Keeping a dream journal to make a note of your dream is also a good idea to help in this process. You can maximize your lucid dream project with this effort. You must be consistent with the journal keeping idea if you serious about learning how to lucid dream.
With the dream journal growing and increase of your dream recall, you obviously become familiar with your dreams. There may be certain dream themes that might be more common than others. You should also work towards identifying your dream signs as it plays a vital part in the process of lucid dreaming.
Next you must try to add awareness to your waking consciousness. This will eventually help in a realization that you are not obviously aware of how unaware you are most of the day may hit you.
Lastly you should link your awareness to your lucid dreams. By becoming closely familiar with your dream signs and linking reality checks to these dream signs a strong foundation for future lucid dreaming is laid.

How To Dream Lucid Quickly
Lucid dreaming simply defined is when you dream while being aware that you are in that dream. Lucidity, or mental clarity, begins in the course of the dream when the dreamer begins to grasp that what he is going through is not transpiring in physical reality but is in fact a dream.
So what’s so great about having these lucid dreams Let’s answer that question with another question. Haven’t you ever fantasized of leaving this world set up with boundaries of social norms, and going off to somewhere where you can be who you really want to be – without the restrictions of the physical and social requirements of society Escape from the real world, some would call it.
When we go to sleep and have dreams, we often wake up having a vague memory of that dream; may it be pleasant or something we'd never like to think about again. However the thing here is, as we start to become more awake or more aware of the real world, the memory of the dream would also start to fade away as quickly as we had become aware of it; until we are only left with fragmented ideas here and there of what that dream is all about.
The realization of being in a dream often takes place when the events occurring start to get weird or unusual, such as flying or trying to run away with your body feeling like dead weight. Most people who remember their dreams have experienced this at some time, often waking up immediately after the realization. However with lucid dreaming, it is possible to continue in the dream while remaining fully aware that you are dreaming. So what could stop you from doing whatever you like You could either stay back and see how the course of dream would turn out; or put your hand in it and control what would happen. Dream cues may also be real life representations. This would also be a good way for you to discover what is really deep down in your subconscious, since these things tend to surface in dreams, or in times where there is very low activity in the brain.
How does one have lucid dreams Dreams are usually a product of a person’s thoughts and experiences throughout the day. Therefore, thinking of dreams during the day and wanting to have lucid dreams when you are awake might be helpful. These thoughts might be embossed in your subconscious, thus making it possible for them to reflect themselves in your dreams. Get creative – experiment, and visualize. Not all techniques apply to everyone. The method shown here may be very effective to some while it may be not the case for others. Experiment with different ways on how to achieve this lucidity; a lot of sources are available for you on the world wide web at your convenience. Most people are attracted to this due to its potential for adventure and fantasy fulfillment. Lucid dreaming offers people an outlet to express their creativity and wildest imaginations without any restraint.
